  • Upload your home education registration or Distance Education enrolment through your myGov account.
  • Contact Centrelink to let them know your documents have been submitted and ask for the Home Schooling Exemption to be assessed.
  • Centrelink will review your evidence and determine whether you meet the eligibility requirements for the exemption.

Some Centrelink staff may not be familiar with this exemption category. If you experience any difficulties, it can be helpful to have a copy of the relevant Services Australia exemption information available when speaking with them.

Please note that Centrelink payments are not applied automatically. If you think you may be eligible, you’ll need to submit an application through Centrelink.
